Revolution & Resurgence

Syrus Marcus Ware & Giselle Dias (Niigaanii Zhaawshko Giizhigokwe)

Turtle Island has been the site of decades of prisoners’ justice organizing, stretching coast to coast to coast. What follows is a consideration of abolition, the movement for Black lives, Indigenous resurgence, and Black and Indigenous solidarity. This is a conversation between two prisoners, justice activists, and long-time abolitionists: Syrus Marcus Ware and Giselle Dias (Niigaanii Zhaawshko Giizhigokwe, Métis, Red River, Manitoba)—both long-time prison organizers and co-founders of both the Prisoners Justice Action Committee (PJA) and the Prisoners Justice Film Festival (Toronto and London, ON).
